One of the biggest issues with Wii fitness games is that while you're flailing your arms around, but there's just no resistance. So you get a pretty good lower body workout (because your legs are carrying the weight of your body), but once the workout is through you really don't feel like you've gotten a very good upper body workout. As a result, games like this usually get played a few times and then go back on the shelf.

Riiflex weights are 2 pound weights that snap onto your Wii remote and nunchuk. While 2 pounds may not seem like a lot, it's the perfect amount of resistance, especially as you're playing reflex and rhythm games, which essentially are like doing reps.

They're really well built. The weights themselves are solid 2-pound weights, and yet they're pleasant to hold because the entire surface is made of rubber which is very smooth in your hands. You literally slip your Wii remote and nunchuk into the weights so that the weights and the controllers become unified-they will snap in place into the perfectly-shaped molds and remain there securely. Once they're in place, you can use your Wii remote and nunchuk as normal. But instead of swinging and flailing your arms wildly, you get a good amount of resistance-and in the process you're building up and toning the muscles in your upper and lower arms.

Obviously, this is compatible with any game that requires arm movements. Since I review a lot of Wii fitness games, I had a lot of them on the shelf collecting dust. But with these weights it was like I had a whole new set of games. It didn't do much for EA Sports Active (as most of the workouts require the nunchuk leg holder), but for games like My Fitness Coach 2 and Jillian Michaels, it turned subpar games into games worth playing.

The game was really given new life was Gold's Gym Cardio Workout. It always struck me that while the game was fun, there wasn't really too much "cardio". That all changed when I slipped on the Riiflex weights. After just one round of the punching bag, my heart is racing and I feel great. So that's another game that will no longer be collecting dust on the shelf.

The one gripe I would have is not so much a gripe about the Riiflex weights, but about the Wii controllers in general. With the nunchuk cord, it's easy to get tangled up, and of course with 2 pounds of weights in each hands the cord becomes more unwieldy, and you have to be careful to make sure you don't accidentally damage the cord. I wish Nintendo would create a wireless nunchuk that worked, or that I had a Riiflex for my other Wii remote. But this is just a minor thing.

One last benefit of these weights is that it's a great way to even the playing field when you're playing against kids or Wii newbies. If you've already mastered games like Wii Sports boxing and baseball, using Riiflex weights will make them challenging again and give you a better workout in the process.

It's Something you need for the wii so you there's not much you can do to review this. But this controller is what makes the wii different from other console's and what makes this console so good. It makes game's like tennis, golf and bowling so relistic and better than other console's. The last point I will make is this is a must if you want to play with other people. We played a lot of Wii today. Then Brooke and I went to Wal-mart and while we were shopping for games to buy we happened to notice they had two Wii Fit Plus in stock. Even the Wal-mart guy was surprised. He was like 'one more lucky person will be able to buy this game' lol and he was pretty old so the fact he even recognized it was that big of a deal made us feel pretty lucky for finally getting ourselves a Wii Fit Plus. We haven't made great use of it since we've had it but we knew we wanted it and we are going to that is for sure. Near the end of the video you can see us playing lots of the fun games on it. Golfers are always looking for way to improve their golfing. I would spend a good portion of my evenings at the driving range trying to improve my driving, my short game, my approach shot and ultimately my putting. My putting was what killed me on the golf course.

I would also pay for golfing instructor. Golfing easily consumed much of my disposable income, it became an obsession.

If you need help with your golfing, get the Nintendo Wii Plus. The golfing in this game requires the Balance board which measures the shifting of your weight and balance through the swing, which as every golfer knows is crucial through the swinging of the golf club. The swing on the balance board is the same as when I swing on the golf course. I can easily find my self pulling up too soon at the end of my drive shot. This is something that I will have to work with over the next few months.

According to Wii Fit Plus, my Iron shots and my advance shots are as close to perfect as the professionals. It would be nice to go out onto the driving range or even the golf course to check these out, but they are all closed right now. These were always my strong points on the golf course, so I have no doubts that the Wii Fit Plus analysis of my swing is correct.

The Nintendo Wii started a revolution in gaming systems with its wireless remote, called the Wii Remote or Wiimote. It can be used as a handheld pointing device and detects movement in three dimensions. This provides a superior level of interactivity that translates into lots of fun! I believed this Wii Fit Workout Kit was worth the buy. But how they got 8 piece set is beyond me. There are technically 9 pieces to the set. Whether they grouped to together the weights or the wristbands. They still called it 8. The towel and wristbands are really helpful if you are going to work up a sweat and the water bottle though a little small gets the job done for keeping re-hydrated. The weights though light are good for the workouts they have one the Wii. You don't need more unless you are planning on doing your own working out. The Wii mat is great but is very delicate. I opened the package it was in with a key and already ripped it. I didn't stab it nor did I press down on it. Though the mat works well for keeping yourself clean so you don't have to lay on a dirty or hard floor. I did not touch the rechargeable batteries or cord. I have heard bad things about it, so I haven't tested it.

The only way you are not going to waste your skill points is if you only take two or three points on the spell you like the most and the rest of the skill points on the offensive spells.

Clive Barker's Jericho Review - Nothing Groundbreaking

Clive Barker's Jericho is a PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC video game that comes from the warped mind of none other than Clive Barker himself. He is notorious for his books and movies that are based around the horror genre. Now, he is attempting to make a successful transition into video games. The storyline in the game revolves around a city known as Al Khali and the Jericho team. Al Khalid is the location that uncanny and inexplicable events are an everyday occurrence. These ineffable supernatural reports are due to demons and fiends that inhabit Al Khalid.

The protagonist in the game is Captain Devin Ross, and he is the leader of team Jericho. The plot may seem like an unsolvable jigsaw puzzle, but I still appreciated it. It had twist and turns that will keep any gamer guessing until the bitter end. Speaking of bitter ending, the epilogue was a bit of a disappointment. In regards to the gameplay, the game plays like any other ordinary first person shooter with a emphasis on the word ordinary. You can issue commands to your other people in your group. The various people in your squad are Sergeant Delgado, Lieutenant Black, Church, and Jones. They all have their pros and cons; furthermore, each character has different attributes and weapons. For instance, Sergeant Delgado is equipped with a gun. Lieutenant Black is armed with a sniper rifle and a grenade launcher. Church possesses a sword and machine gun. Jones prefers to use a shotgun. In addition to the weapons, there are numerous abilities that you have at your disposal. For example, Captain Ross has the power to heal. The gameplay has its moments by keeping the style of the game fresh at certain moments. Lieutenant Black can use telekinesis, Jones can use mind control, and Church knows how to use magic.

The variety of the other characters is the only thing that makes this game different from other video games in the same genre. Just about every enemy in the game looks grotesque. They will have nails attached to their bodies and other sharp objects. If you have seen a horror movie before, then all of the frightening aspects of the game are foreseeable. Maybe I found it to be predictable because I already seen countless scary games. Moreover, there is nothing fancy in this game. The artificial intelligence across the board is imperfect. Your teammates will usually get mauled by a swarm of enemies without any resistance. I am not sure how that is even possible because the opponents themselves can be easily killed.

None of the levels are unique. For the most part, they are all the same rudimentary restricted surroundings. I felt like the game was unintentionally humorous for no apparent reason. Regrettably, there is absolutely no multiplayer in the game. The lack of a multiplayer is exacerbated by the fact that there is nothing done extraordinarily well in the game. Players will feel like the ambiance of the game has a mundane look. The gameplay will take the avid player approximately eleven hours to fourteen hours to complete from start to finish. Visually, there is nothing in the game that will make anyone have a "Wow, that looks incredible" moment. The full motion cut-scenes themselves are amazing, but the actual gameplay footage is banal. I would have appreciated better graphics from a next generation console like the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. The audio in the game is nothing to be elated about either. Yes, there is music and voice acting. However, there is really no point in having music and voice acting when they are both lackluster. Overall, Clive Barker's Jericho is a video that is not for everyone. No, the game is not on par with BioShock. The game is not exemplary, but the game is not egregious. It is just plain average.

I just LOVE this game! It is, however, a recreation of the older games and even of the Nintendo DS game and the original Nintendo game, hince the name "Super Mario Bros. Wii." There is such a striking resemblance of the DS game until my son and I play both games side by side! Each of the worlds are similar - for example, the first world in both the DS and Wii version is a land version, while land 2 is a sand world, while the 3rd world is ice and so on. This is the only Wii game that I have become engaged in in some time. I play it almost everyday and even catch myself finding reasons to limit my son's play time so that I can play alone more! It made me nastalgic, I recalled my own childhood when we first got our own Nintendo. There is a way to get 99 men and my son - the KING OF ALL VIDEO GAMES EVER INVENTED - couldn't figure out how to get it, and I did! It was a blast! Now whenever he needs 99 men he calls ME to help him instead of vise versa. It's a great family game and that's why I love Nintendo!

Is Treadmill Running as Good as Training Outside?

Treadmills can bring the outside into your own living room. Sounds ideal doesn't it. You can run 10 miles withour leaving your house. But can treadmill running deliver the same benefits as training outdoors?

Treadmill running differs from road running in a number of ways and this should be considered when training. The first obvious difference is the lack of wind resistance when running indoors. Another difference is the surface. Although experts differ on this issue a smooth moving surface underneath your feet is not the same as an uneven stationary road. Most runners agree that running on a treadmill feels different to road. This should be taken into consideration when training.

Is running on a treadmill better than the road? This comes down to preference. Many prefer being outdoors whereas others have environmental, climatic or personal safety concerns making treadmill running an ideal choice.

Firstly let's look at the psychological factors of running on a treadmill compared to the road. Unless you have a large room for your machine you will most likely to be facing a wall or window within a few meters. Research has shown that runners on treadmills take shorter paces that may be due to the proximity of a barrier or fear of falling off. It does take time to learn how to run on a moving surface and even when confident many runners will tighten their lower backs, again possibly a psychological reaction to staying on the machine.

When comparing physical technique, research has found that when the foot lands on the belt the foot, ankle and shin, become temporarily part of the belt and move backwards from the centre and mass of the body at the same speed. This means the shinbone of the leg landing is not as upright as with normal running and has a greater range of motion.

Treadmill running can be useful for injured athletes, using a mirror can be a good way to observe your technique (although it must be recognised that it is not the same as training on the road).

Whether using a treadmill or road you will need to vary your running program for two reasons. Firstly, if you continue doing the same distance and the same speed you will get less and less benefit as your body adapts. Secondly, you can soon become de-motivated by the same thing week in, week out. Alternating between shorter faster runs and longer distances at a slower pace will help to condition your body and improve endurance, muscle strength and cardio-vascular function. It will also provide you with variety and a different challenge for each session.

I usually recommend runners to use one or the other exclusively, because I see them as different activities.

One fitness product that has become a center of media attention recently is the Shake Weight. This is a hand-held dumbbell like weight with a spring on either end that you can shake. The claim is that this can help women get that lean, toned, un-bulky look to their arms and shoulders.

The Shake Weight became famous after being mentioned on several TV shows, most notably the Ellen Degeneress show. Most of the TV time this product got was slightly on the comic side due to the slightly suggestive infomercial, but this says nothing about the quality and effectiveness of the product itself, so I am going to disregard it for the purposes of this article.

Here are the claims of the Shake Weight:

The Shake Weight works with a method called Dynamic Inertia in which you work your muscles by shaking the weight instead of lifting it.
That a scientific study showed that this product is more effective than regular weight training in many aspects. I tried to find reference to the study on their website but couldn't so I don't know who conducted this research and what the exact findings were.
That you can get terrific results in just 6 minutes a day.
I don't know anything about Dynamic Inertia as this is a concept that I believe was born with the invention of the Shake Weight. Shaking an object certainly works the muscles, of that there is no doubt. Even shaking your arms in front of you without nothing in them does produce some stimulation.

Whether this stimulation is more effective than traditional weight lifting is an open question. This is something that's very hard to measure as weight training can be done in so many fashions and variations that a simple comparison is just not accurate.

There is one claim which I doubt is true and that refers to how the Shake Weight can help women get that long muscle growth instead of the bulky one which men prefer. The infomercial suggests that using traditional weight training machines and dumbbells is what causes bulky muscle growth.

The real cause is genetics and the way you workout. Most women aren't built, genetically, to bulk up. They will have to train with very heavy weights and work extremely hard to get the bulky look. You can achieve a long, more feminine, muscle tone with dumbbells and machines. There is nothing wrong with them.

So, the Shake Weight may be a fun product to use, and it certainly be used at home pretty easily, but it's not better than dumbbells in producing lean muscle growth. That being said, this product does look like a lot of fun and may prove to be a new way to workout.

I purchased these dumbbells to use while using Walk It Out. I have unlocked almost all of the capsules on the island (i.e., I have finished most of the game-playing elements) and all there is left to do is walk to the music. These dumbbells are excellent for walking and swinging my arms. I try to walk 10,000+ steps, and the <2 lb. weight is perfect for each arm for 1/2 hour to 45 minutes.

The dumbbells are also good for Dancing With the Stars. I kept my arms up for another half an hour and got a good workout.

You can choose how long you want to work out and what areas you want to work on. It is really important to have good lighting. fun, makes me exercise, i can watch t.v. a movie, or listen to radio while I do my aerobic portion. it monitors me. does not yell out my weight - actually never shows it unless I hit weight. just does the intitial bmi which is totally cool. so i came up obese, i wasn't shocked. really fun training games. great yoga moves, strenth training/pilates moves. highly recommended, ecspecially since going to the gym just isnt working. my 14 month old loves to watch it.

I got the original EA Active for the Wii for Christmas and found it to be a very good upgrade (at least in difficulty of exercises) to the Wii fit. My one complaint was with the resistance band which is way too "light". I ordered the Wii Activ3 Workout Kit for the resistance bands. I was fine with the leg strap that came with the game, so I didn't really care that the kit came with a new one of those as well. I now use the new strap exclusively. I would occasionally have trouble with EA's strap sliding down: I've never had that happen with the Wii Activ3 strap (I've used it for 6 workouts as of this writing). The best feature of the kit though is the resistance straps. I use the red (highest resistance) and black (lowest resistance) straps together and find that I can make ALL of the resistance exercises difficult with this combination. And I can still rotate in the gray band (medium resistance - in case you haven't been keeping track) if the red/black combo becomes too easy. My expectations of the product were that I would get resistance bands that would give me a decent workout and a leg strap I'd toss in a corner somewhere. It turns out I got even more than I'd hoped for.

I am an older, new Wii user. I bought the Wii only a couple of months ago, and this is one of my first "games" for it (after a pinball game and the Wii Fit). I am not a skiier, nor will I ever be, but I love this game. It is challenging and fairly intuitive. Flying down the slopes seems pretty realistic, especially in a dark room.

There are numerous little mini-challenges within the game, and the user can earn points that reflect his/her ability to ski in the game. By taking the "ski school" at the beginning, I was able to learn to control the game and procede fairly quickly through the basic stages.

I am the only player in the house, so it is nice to have computer competitors in the races and challenges. When my kids come home at Christmas, I plan to sucker them into playing with me. I own the Wii Fit board, and it does work with the game, but since I seem to like to walk around while I'm playing it, the board isn't a particularly interesting addition for me.

Are two of the biggest challenges for many people when they try to get in shape, is the monotony and boredom. The Wii Fit to change everything. Wii Fit will always be someone in great shape, because the exercises are fun, varied and fun.

I purchased this game for my 23 year old brother for Christmas... he has said it was the best Christmas present he's ever gotten from me! It's a really fun and addicting game. It even gives you quite the arm workout--I had a little soreness after doing some of the games.

Definitely fun for both individual and multi-player gaming.
The table tennis, sword fighting, and 3-point shooting activities are worth it for the price, and there are a bunch of other games too!

I would most definitely recommend this game for both guys and girls of most ages. Probably harder for the real young ones, but they may be able to pick up on some of the games.

Some people may complain that it took an add-on to get the Wii to do what we all expected a motion detection controller to do, but technology doesn't always move as quickly as we'd like it to, especially at a price point we'd like it to.
